Optimizing automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) presents a complex combinatorial challenge within warehouse logistics and supply chain management. Research in this area has primarily focused on two key aspects. system design and control. Utilizing metaheuristic approaches, researchers have made significant strides in enhancing system efficiency and throughput. This paper provides a brief overview of recent research that addresses the control side of AS/RS optimization using various metaheuristic techniques.
